Projek Lestari Laut: Reaching Coastal Communities Through Education

As part of Beaurev Global’s commitment to community empowerment and sustainability, we conducted a site visit to Pulau Ketam in preparation for Projek Lestari Laut, a 2026 CSR education initiative focused on supporting indigenous coastal children through experiential and place based learning. Reaching Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Dua required travel by land, ferry, and small boats, highlighting how geography, tides, and weather continue to shape access to basic education for many coastal communities.

Understanding Local Challenges and Community Realities

The village is home to approximately 22 families and 35 children who face ongoing challenges such as limited infrastructure, environmental degradation, and long daily commutes to the nearest school. These conditions significantly affect learning continuity and educational outcomes. Despite these constraints, the resilience, warmth, and openness of the community were deeply inspiring and reinforced the importance of designing solutions that are rooted in local context and real needs.

Building Sustainable Impact Through Place Based Learning

Projek Lestari Laut is designed to bring education closer to home by transforming the sea and surrounding environment into a living classroom, where children can learn through nature, culture, and real world experiences. This initiative is carried out in collaboration with Sekolah Laut and Be The Change Malaysia, whose community driven efforts continue to create meaningful impact. Through this project, Beaurev Global aims to contribute to long term educational access, environmental awareness, and sustainable empowerment for coastal and indigenous communities.
